The winner of the Melbourne International Wine Competition's 2019 Italian Producer of the Year, San Marzano is like the Puglian Penfolds - just with less oaky Shiraz and more spicy Primitivo.
While San Marzano is more famous for Italy's biggest reds - like the 99 point Anniversario - this Il Pumo is an example of Sangiovese at its absolute juiciest.
Loaded with delicious ripe purple berry fruit, without losing that trademark, food-friendly finish and some earthy complexity. A luscious red, but still medium-bodied and savoury too.
