This is a rich and powerful wine with one foot in the contemporary camp of detail and freshness, the other caught in an older-school brood of camphor, anise and darker fruit accents lathered with oak. A bit too much. Kirsch, pine and a sour lilt of Seville orange peel are dragged to good length by maritime freshness. A whiff of bracken, suggestive of whole bunches in the mix. The tannins, long-limbed, firm and nourishing, are excellent. Good drinking.
