Mike Bennie - Halliday's Wine Companion

Produced from 80-year-old bush vines from Leasingham. The variety is grenache. That's two good sentences to read. It's tightly wound and racy, crisp and very dry. Gently savoury with faint nutty and woody spice elements but it's mostly about crunchy cranberry and watermelon granite-like fruit characters. Whips along at pace, feeling thirst-quenching and delicate. Appropriately understated and very good.

Gary Walsh - The Wine Front

Hand-picked from 80 year old Grenache bush vines at Leasingham in the Clare Valley. Gets 5% new oak, the rest older oak (they say neutral, but there’s no such thing as neutral oak, if there was no impact on flavour/texture, then there would be no point using it…) Red fruit, spice, a little wood, subtle flowering basil and dried herb. It’s a wine of texture, with some dry grainy grip, raspberry, strawberry and watermelon sorbet, with a pleasing juiciness, but also some nutty saline complexity. It’s just a little bit peanut shell/earthy too. The finish has a bright tang and good length. Good. Distinctive.
