Deep crimson with aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant pastille and black cherry with hints of dark spice, eucalyptus, turned earth, sage, bay leaf, pressed flowers, licorice and blueberry tart. Some Ribena and herb notes flow in on the palate and there is a broody aspect to the wine's disposition, finishing with chalky tannins and a musky edge to the dark, dark berry fruits.

Deep to impenetrable purple staining the glass. Very fragrant with a heady mix of blackberry and tobacco leaf lifting from the glass. Palate is quite rich and velveteen in its texture, mouth-filling dark fruits and chocolate notes add further to the sense of plushness. Good length and tannins provide direction to the finish

First impression is that this is more-ish and ready to drink now. Second impression is that the fruit itself is sweet, and while most folks will love that, some might find it a bit much. Blackcurrant and Ribena characters come intermingled with dust, bay leaf and earth. It has tannin and shape but this is an open, accessible wine, and good to drink now.
