The Collective Review
Undeniable value, flavour-dripping Spanish red that Australian winemakers could only dream of producing for so few pennies. Meet the Pagos de Araiz Joven Tempranillo - a moreish, sun-drenched blend from the beating heart of Spain's winemaking revival.
Sourced from the up-and-coming region of Navarra in central Spain, this blend of Tempranillo (with some Garnacha and Merlot) is that it is the perfect introduction to Spanish wine - an amazing, juicy, medium-bodied red with fine tannins.
Navarra used to be known just for inexpensive quaffing reds, but there has been a whole ocean of approachable yet charismatic reds coming out in recent years, just like this one.

Style GuideLight Intense
The wine's appearance shows intense red cherry with purple edges. The Joven opens up with aromas of ripe clean red fruits, moreish and balanced with a silky finish.
Pagos de Araiz Joven wine is made with grapes from vineyards owned by the winery on the Pagos de Araiz estate, grown using integrated agriculture methods and in large part organic agriculture. The vineyards are on average 20 years old and lie on rolling slopes with sandy, silty, rocky soil.
Tempranillo 60% and grenache 40%.
Alcoholic fermentation lasted 15 days with daily pigeage and remontage. Temperature was strictly controlled to never exceed 26ºC. Malolactic fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks before the final coupage. The wine was then clarified and bottled.
