Artisans of the Barossa has to be one of Australia's most exciting wine collaborations. It sees seven of the Barossa's most impressive wineries come together to make a range of wines that perfectly encapsulate the terroir of one of this country’s most celebrated regions.
The core members are Hobbs of Barossa Ranges, Purple Hands Wines, Schwarz Wine Company, John Duval Wines, Sons of Eden, Lienert Vineyards, and Spinifex Wines. They've come together and launched the Artisans of Barossa Project. Together they are determined to show the world that the Barossa has a thriving small-batch, handmade, and boutique wine scene. Starting in 2005, the Artisans Project has grown slowly to include more and more members, collaborations, and game-changing ideas (such as this compelling Grenache).
The Lot 8 Grenache is sourced from a 60-year-old vineyard in the north of the Barossa, harvested slightly early for a more modern and crunchy style of Grenache. The wine is made with 25% whole bunches for spice and complexity and spends seven months in old French Puncheons, for weight and texture without overt oak characteristics.
