This is a classic cabernet: cassis, blackberry, elegant and silky. I also got a little thyme on the mid-palate and dusty tannins. I found it had a good use of oak, which for me, made it taste a little more mature than its vintage. I think this is a great wine for classic cabernet drinkers who enjoy Coonawarra/Margaret River. I would suggest it for those who have enjoyed Evans and Tate, Kirrihill Regional Selection, Xanadu Exmoor Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 and even some Crianza Tempranillo drinkers. I had it with Eye fillet steak, chimichurri, pan fried capers & green beans , roast chat potatoes and a green salad which it worked perfectly with and again brought me back to that classic Cabernet style. Like its shiraz counterpart, it has a brooding deep ink colour that makes your palate salivate. On the nose I got mulberry & some plum. Palate was mid to Full-bodied. Great amount of fruit weight to be not too sweet. It had a small amount of spice but had great length. In contrast with the shiraz, (which was very rich on the palate), this was elegant & smooth very classy.

Tasting Notes

A delightful mid-week wine. Plenty of that rich Barossa fruit. It oozes all those little dark-fruited beauties plumb, mulberry blackberries. The tannins are well balanced against the fruit weight of the wine

Winemakers Note

Warm growing conditions have lead to clean, punchy varietal Cabernet characters. With careful use of oak maturation and a focus on maintaining dominance of the blackcurrant and blackberry fruit, this wine is a true reflection of the vintage and the varietal with a balanced palate, silky tannins and great length on the palate. This wine is ready to drink but will also reward careful cellaring.
