A blend of 60% Syrah, 17% Cinsault, 10% Mourvèdre, 8% Carignan and 5% Grenache, the 2019 Black Rock begins with a ripe and spicy essence of chamomile, dusty red cherries, black plum, a green herbal edge and black spices. Medium-bodied, the wine offers up an element of dried clay and calamine with a worn leather essence. Concluding with tart red fruit flavors, the wine lingers with elements of turned earth and firm tannins, which leaves me wanting more focus from the wine. Read more
