This is the signature wine of Domaine Grosbois, and exhibits all the simplicity and character of Loire Valley Cabernet Franc. It’s moreish, charismatic and charming - and bloody hard to resist! The Loire may be known and famous for its whites, but this red is a force to be reckoned with.
The 2019 Chinon Gabare is a little animally and leathery on the nose, suggestive of brett and drying the palate. That’s a pity because there's nice, concentrated fruit underneath, and good flesh. The team at Grosbois tried using mineral sulfur in the winery for this cuvée in this vintage, and they think that might have been the reason for the spoilage. Read more

Tasting Notes
An Ample wine with the return of the grape pulp and freshness of lively fruit. The aromas of licorice develop through aging. A wine to share with friends around a good barbecue. A generous explosion of wild strawberries and blackberries
Winemakers Note
The signature wine of Domaine Grosbois. Simplicity and character of Loire Valley Cabernet Franc, in a bottle. Vines are grown according to the principles of organic farming in order to fully reflect this part of Chinon's terroir. Made with vines that are on average 40 years old.
Fermented and aged in small concrete cuves, spontaneous fermentation and macerated for no more than 25 to 30 days. This modern approach to a classic gives respect and an honest insight to the grape variety and the distinct vineyard sites. Certified biodynamic since 2019.
