Winemakers Note
Château Valandraud, a dream came true Château Valandraud is the main achievement of a couple of wine lovers, Jean-Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud. Château Valandraud was born in 1991 on a 0.6 ha vineyard bought with all the couple's savings. This small vineyard is situated in the fongaban valley, in the Pavie Macquin/La Clotte neighbourhood and this is where "Valandraud" comes from: Val (valley) + Andraud (Murielle's family name, which appears on the Saint Emilion's registery since 1459). Virginie de Valandrau, the second wine Named after Murielle Andraud and Jean Luc Thunevin’s daughter, Virginie, this cuvée was created in 1992 as the 2nd wine of Château Valandraud. Since the 1997 vintage, with the expansion of the Thunevin vineyards in the Saint Emilion appellation, Virginie de Valandraud has had its own vineyards and its own identity while being cultivated in the same way and vinified in our cellars by the same technical team as Valandraud.
