Huon Hooke - The Real Review

Deep, dark red colour with a purple rim and a concentrated, bold aroma of blackberry and cassis with a lacing of mint. A lot of oak as well. The palate is full-bodied, firm and tense, with abundant firm tannins and a core of sweet berry fruit. A concentrated, well-structured cabernet with length, power and considerable ageing potential. Cellar it!

Marcus Ellis - Halliday's Wine Companion

A blend of 60/40% McLaren Vale/Coonawarra; 23 months in new, first- and second-fill French and American hogsheads. This is the current release of a $30 wine but with museum vintage timing, like much of the range. The Coonawarra element seems to ride high here, with a lifted crown of mint, bay and hedgerow, along with Worcestershire sauce, coffee, blackberry nip, cassis and raspberry. This is in the classic older-school house style, dryly grippy and full of flavour.
