2015 Chateau Fourcas-Dupré 2015 1500ml

The 2015 Fourcas-Dupre, which showed extremely well from barrel, has a classic pencil lead-scented bouquet that builds nicely in the glass, blackberry and briary scents very expressive after just a few swirls of the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine line of acidity. This is not a deep or powerful wine, but it has a certain elegance and I appreciate the precision on the finish. You could broach this early or just enjoy over the next 12 to 15 years. Anticipated maturity: 2019 - 2032. Read more

Ripe middle palate and none of the Listrac roughness – quite a forward style with good balance2019-2028
The 2015 Fourcas-Dupré has quite a strong tobacco-infused nose with blackberry and briary aromas emerging with time. Fine definition. The palate displays good depth but it is surprisingly short compared to the bottle I tasted just a year ago, hence my lower score. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.
Quite a sweet plummy nose, but this has some tannic backbone. Medium body and firm tannins. Drink now or hold.
"Tiefes Purpur, satt in der Mitte, Granatschimmeram Rand. Barockes Bouquet, zeigt mehr Tiefe wie Frucht. Im Gaumen mit fester Statur aufwartend, zeigt Fleisch und auch Muskeln, da ist aber viel drin. Charmant wird er nie, aber er ist vielversprechend. Das erste Mal, dass er als Fassprobe diese Wertung erhält." 2024-2039. 17/20
Good, bright, focussed and decent, this is a nice wine with momentum and clean red fruit. The tannins are keen and yet they are not astringent and the fruit rolls on for a good long while. It will age slowly and always be a finer style but this is a decent alternative to the black-fruited wines. 16/20
Mid cherry red. Fragrant with both red and black fruit. On the lighter side though elegantly balanced. Plenty of freshness and just enough fruit to fill the fine-boned structure. 16/20
Mid crimson. Real lift and sap on the nose. A tiny bit simple in terms of fruit on the palate. An attractive early maturer.Drink 2021-2029 16/20

Tasting Notes
Fourcas Dupré sometimes produces rustic wines, but this vintage shows more polish. Attractive cherry nose; the palate is suave, concentrated and weighty, with sufficient tannins to give some structure without toughness. It’s balanced and quite long, but doesn’t show great flair.
