Barrel Sample. Initially, this wine is all about its dark structure. After time in the glass, the fruit and acidity come through to give a wine that has balance and potential for developing well.   — R.V.  (3/31/2015) 90-92/20 Read more

Neal Martin - Wine Advocate

The Château Fourcas-Dupré 2014 was showing a little toastiness on the nose from the oak, but there is attractive red plummy fruit here with a touch of sous bois coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with what you might describe as gentle tannin. It is not a wine that wants to exert itself at this stage, but it is balanced and fresh and will hopefully gain a little weight and effort by the time it is in bottle.

Jeannie Cho Lee MW - Asian Palate

There is great freshness and focused flavors in this modest chateau. The wine combines the freshness of the cool 2014 summer with the ripeness of the late Indian summer. Beautifully balanced with potential to age for 5 to 8 years.

Steven Spurrier - Decanter

Superb colour, fine briary/blackcurrant nose, classic Medoc fruit and more ripeness than usual from Listrac, some smoky oak, good depth and vigour, will open up early but show well mid-long term, very good in this vintage.  16/20.  2018-28. 16/20

Black cherry, punchy acid - this could almost be Tuscan in style. Brisk tannic feel leaving a chewy finish. Not hugely concentrated but has enough upfront structure and fruit to be worth medium term maturation. (RH) - UGC tasting London Oct 2015. 16/20

Mid crimson. Lively fruit and a little austere on the end. Serviceable rather than a standout. Fruit continues to dominate the oak.  Drink 2019-2028 16/20

Tasting Notes

The wine is ripe and full of blackberry fruits. It has serious tannins still although these are well balanced by the fruitiness. The firm structure and wood aging flavor will soften over the next few years. Drink from 2020. Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast 91 Points
