NV The Black Chook Sparkling Shiraz

6 x 750ml
A very likable wine, the lifted bouquet shows dark plum, raspberry coulis and floral characters with a hint of vanilla complexity. It is succulent and generous on the palate, and delivers excellent fruit richness backed by soft tannins. A fabulous sparkling shiraz, on the dry side, yet filled with sweet fruit flavours. Read more

Joe Czerwinski - Wine Enthusiast

Plummy and chocolaty in profile, this medium- to full-bodied sparkling Shiraz remains surprisingly refreshing on the long, dusty finish. It makes for a crowd-pleasing introduction to the style.

Deep red colour with a rim of purple; the aromas are chocolaty and plummy with hints of leather, aniseed and antiseptic. The palate is soft and relatively dry, with a trace of sweetness and a blackcurrant pastille fruitiness. There is plenty of tannin but it's soft and nicely harmonised. It's fairly young but quite a good example, and affordably priced.

I’d claim this as a genuine rival to Seppelt Original – and I don’t say that often. It’s clean and sweet, medium-bodied and easy to drink, the finish fruity and dark and earthen. This has been beautifully put together, at a nice price. I knocked back a bottle much quicker than I was intending.

(South Eastern Australia) Medium to deep red colour with a brick-red edge. The aroma is vanillan and chocolaty, reflecting liberal use of oak. The palate is fully sweet in a clearly commercial style, while the texture is soft and velvety, with a pleasing touch of richness. An appealing sparkling red.
