The Collective Review
Top-shelf, 4 x Gold medal-winning Chardonnay from the Margaret River heartland of golden sunshine and pitch-perfect winemaking conditions.
Who's the maker? None other than Tate wines, a legendary WA winemaking figure, and this Chardonnay is the highly exclusive, top-tiered "best blocks" release. Expect layers of fresh-cut hay, golden butter caramel, pineapple and crisp green melon. There are almond and pine needles, too, lending a deft touch to the overall picture. If you enjoy a full dose of flavour in your Riedel, this is a hard pick to pass up. It's well-balanced and neatly packaged for the money, plus it's won enough gold medals to make Ian Thorpe turn his head.
sweet corn, popcorn and grilled almond aromas, the palate is rich, continuing with all sorts of grilled nuts, with under ripe peach, lemon curd, vanilla bean. medium plus finish, great wine. Read more
Critic Reviews
Margaret River Chardonnay at an affordable price. It’s a good starting point. Grilled peaches, bacon, woodsmoke and pear flavours are the go here. It’s unsubtle but it’s effective. It hits straight up with flavour and keeps going through to a satisfying-enough finish. Old-school chardonnay? It’s in that vicinity.

Tasting Notes
Lifted intense varietal characteristics of white nectarine, lemon and crème brulee notes. Clean stone fruit and citrus dominate the palate, with almond meal, and creamy notes, enabled by yeast lees autolysis. Vanilla, shortbread are also integrated with the fruit and cream characters, with the fruit acidity, providing length and freshness to the palate. This integration will only increase with careful cellaring. Pairing - Chicken Satay and Jasmine Rice.
Winemakers Note
The majority of this wine, came from our vineyard in the Wilyabrup sub-region in Margaret River. Very low crops this year have produced a wine, with rich citrus and stonefruit aromas and flavours. We used a selected natural yeast strain, isolated in Burgundy. Known to enhance fruit aromas during fermentation, it also provides texture, whilst aging over 10 months in French barriques. Barriques were individually tasted and selected for the final blend.
