2022 Houghton Stripe Chardonnay

Pale straw in colour with tinges of gold. The nose displays primary fruit flavours of white peach and citrus with hints of hazelnut and brioche. Subtle toasted oak and vanilla spice provides interest to the aroma. On the palate fresh stone fruit and citrus flavours prevail on a creamy, softly textured palate with hints of hazelnut and vanillin derived from the extended yeast lees and oak maturation. The 2019 Houghton Chardonnay displays flavours of white peach and grilled hazelnuts with a flavoursome, creamy finish.

The Chardonnay grapes are harvested at night to maintain bright acidity and fruit freshness. The fruit is pressed, cold settled and racked while maintaining a level of turbidity to provide texture and complexity in the wine. The wine is matured in French oak and lees stirring to impart toasty oak flavours and a creamy texture.
