2021 Ravensworth Project C Reduction Chardonnay 1500mL

Project C is a story that deserves more than a tasting note. To summarise, Bryan Martin, in collaboration with Tumbarumba producer Johansen Wines, scored some of their excellent chardonnay. He produced 3 styles (reductive, oxidative and on skins) – the same fruit, with vastly different outcomes. So, this is made with reduction in mind, in a 2000L new foudre. Flinty and funky and very slinky across the palate. Lemon and wood smoke, radish and quinine, this is complex and mouth-watering. It’s on a tight leash that will loosen with a bit more time. But gee it's compelling now. Alas 150 magnums only, as with all Project C wines this vintage. Read more
