2021 Petit Cheval

Cheval Blanc, a mythical spearhead Although the existence of vines at Cheval Blanc dates back to the 15th century, it was in 1852 that the wine was first marketed under the name of Cheval Blanc. In 1954, during the first classification of the wines of Saint-Emilion, it obtained the supreme distinction: the classification of Premier Grand Cru Classé "A". In 1998, two long-time friends, great wine lovers, joined forces to acquire this jewel of Saint-Emilion: Bernard Arnault and Baron Albert Frère, and introduced a new dynamic. The Cheval Blanc vineyard covers 39 hectares and is known for having kept its borders unchanged for a century and a half. 45 parcels make up this unique heritage, a true living mosaic. This exceptional terroir is very diversified, sometimes with fine and clayey soils, sometimes with gravelly soils. This typicity is behing the unusual high proportion of Cabernet franc, the dominant grape variety since 1911. Bernard Arnault, President of the LVMH Group. 2021 vintage A vintage of extreme and contrasting climatic conditions which required attention at every turn. The resulting wines are full of lovely fresh aromas. On the nose, the Cabernet Sauvignon (1/3 of the blend) dominates with floral and rose notes, and a delicate expression of red fruit at good maturity. On the palate, the attack is full and fruity with notes of raspberry, the mid-palate is full. The structure is tannic, straightforward, and suggests great ageing potential.
