Winemakers Note

Denis Dubourdieu Domaines George, the aesthete and goldsmith of wine making, Pierre the visionary, Denis the great winegrower and reference winemaker for the whites (also behind the the "ISVV" foundation - Institute of Vine and Wine Sciences ) and finally Fabrice and Jean Jacques, the worthy heirs, it is an understatement to say that the Dubourdieu family has marked the wine industry through the ages. The Dubourdieu family was already cultivating vines in 1794, just after the French Revolution, and entered the closed circle of Grands Crus Classés in 1924, with the purchase of Château Doisy-Daëne. The following generations have perpetuated and developed the family work, especially Denis Dubourdieu who made his name shine all over the world. Today, the family owns several renowned properties, including Château Reynon, Clos Floridène and Château du Haura. Fabrice and Jean-Jacques, the new generation, honor their father's extraordinary career and highlight, vintage after vintage, the exceptional know-how of this family. Le Clos Floridène, a creation of the Dubourdieu family Clos Floridène today covers an area of 40 hectares in the Graves appellation and lies mostly on the limestone plateau of Pujols sur Ciron, near Barsac. It has been progressively formed by Denis and Florence Dubourdieu since 1982, thanks to successive purchases of plots located on the best terroirs. Its name evokes both founders' first names. Years after years, the vineyard expanded, technical facilities were built and the original winegrower's house was restored in order to host events and promote wine tourism. It took 36 years to launch Clos Floridène as an independant vineyard and an internationally reknowned winery. The fermentation of the white Clos Floridène takes place in barrels. Then the wine is aged for 8 months in barrels with lees regularly stirred. Tasting notes - 2021 vintage Clos Floridène Blanc has the particularities of white wines produced on great calcareous soils: green-gold color, intense aroma with fruity notes of white peach, lemon, grapefruit, toasted and grilled nuances. Powerful and fresh flavors of fruit at its best, with the density and structure of a great white wine. Ageing potential of at least 10 years.
