In 1998, two devoted wine enthusiasts, Bernard Arnault and Baron Albert Frère, united their passions to acquire this historic gem nestled in Saint-Emilion. Spanning 39 hectares, the vineyard's borders have remained unchanged for over a century and a half. This remarkable inheritance is a vibrant mosaic comprised of 45 distinct parcels. The terroir's distinctiveness arises from a harmonious blend of fine, clay-rich soils, and gravelly terrain. It's this unique combination that has made Cheval Blanc renowned for its unusually high proportion of Cabernet Franc, the principal grape variety since 1911. Cheval Blanc stands as a pioneering force in agroforestry.
