Bright, medium to light yellow colour with a fresh, bright bouquet of lemon, honey and fragrant blossoms. A delightful nose, with brilliant primary fruit the main act. Great intensity and clarity on the palate. Superb purity and precision. A lovely wine. Indeed, a great wine. (MDB has only been made twice before, in 2006 and 2010)

The third of the MDB Chardonnay line – 2006, 2010 and now this 2015. All “Block B” chardonnay. Power and restraint. To some extent the question is whether or not there’s quite enough power and/or quite enough restraint. It tastes of pears, white peach, oatmeal and sweet spice/toast, the mid-palate buoyant with flavour and the finish tight, controlled, sophisticated. It is a quality white wine in anyone’s language. At this stage of its development/life it just lacks a killer blow but there’s nothing to say that it isn’t on its way.
