Blanc de Duhart Milon (Le) 2024 6 Pack

Le Blanc de Duhart-Milon, "the essence of light" For several years, the teams at Duhart-Milon have dedicated themselves to analyzing and studying the soils of this Grand Cru Classé since 1855. From their observations arises the concept of a distinguished white wine: indeed, they uncover that some of their lands, situated at the eastern extremity of the estate, rest upon soils comprised of limestone veins and sandy colluvium. Following meticulous experimental efforts, Le Blanc de Duhart-Milon is born. The journey commences in 2019 with the planting of Semillon, succeeded by Sauvignon Blanc and Gris. Gradually, the project takes form: in 2020, a dedicated cellar for this white wine comes into being. The 2021 vintage was the first to be released. By virtue of their geographical position, the parcels of Blanc de Duhart-Milon are the first to be bathed in dawn's light, nestled at the edge of a forest, with the estuary visible on the horizon. Thus, the teams are inclined to define Blanc de Duhart-Milon as "the essence of light." The transition to organic agriculture on the property officially commenced in 2021. The 2024 vintage While the climatic conditions of the 2024 vintage were particularly challenging for the reds, they were much more favorable for the dry whites. Despite the mildew pressure, the Sémillon and Sauvignon fared well. After June 25, the summer, which was relatively mild and dry, provided excellent conditions. The harvest took place between September 9 and 20. During fermentation, the first completed batches displayed a vibrant, almost sharp profile. Without hesitation, we decided to allow malolactic fermentation on more than half of the lots. This proved to be a significant decision, as the wines gained softness and length, and their blending with de "non-malo" lots worked particularly well.
