This youthful 2020 Chateauneuf is enormously spicy, the red fruits character coming through more prominently on the generous and precisely contoured palate. Deep fine tannins are married to a delicate licorice and earthy character on the ample palate. Then comes the great wave of stony freshness at the extremely long finish. A cuvee from "young vines" that are 45-50 years old, and the remainder from 110-120 year old vines. Drinkable now, but best from 2024.

This has a stunning combination of red-fruit charm, plus blackberry, chocolate and spicy aromas that you need some time to take in properly. Very ripe and powerful, but also graceful and silky, this has a very long finish that’s full of life. A blend of wine from old vines (planted in 1904, 1905 and 1910) with young (45-year-old!) vines. Never saw any wood! From organically grown grapes.

The 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a seductive blend of 85% Grenache, 5% Mourvèdre, 4% Bourboulenc, 3% Syrah and 3% Cinsaut. Aromas of rose water, wild strawberry, red cherry, raspberry and dried herbs usher this full-bodied, perfumed, rich and refined red. Velvety tannins and fresh acidity define this 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The savory finish goes on for well over a minute.
Very beautiful wine with deep, creamy richness and well manicured tannins that are soft and very long. Lots of subtle flavors of blackberry and plum with some dark chocolate. Same quality level as the 2019.

Aromas of blackberries and currants with cloves, vanilla, hazelnut and wet stones. It’s full and structured with velvety, polished tannins and creamy texture. Deep, toned dark fruit character with some salinity to it. Lingering finish with notes of graphite and walnuts. Try after 2025.

Dark ruby, purple reflections, deep core, faint ochre brightening on the rim. Fresh, ripe plums, sweet cherries, tobacco, soft notes of liquorice and orange, inviting bouquet. Juicy, silky texture, red cherry fruit, subtle sweetness, fine tannins, fresh and persistent, very good balance, already seems drinkable.

Deep ruby, opaque core, purple reflections brightening on the rim. Floral scents under fresh cherry fruit, blackberry confit, and delicate noble wood spices. Medium complexity, red cherries, fresh acidity, ripe tannins, mineral, good length. Savoury finish.

Deep inky plum in colour, ths is always a wine that has fairly broad, muscular tannins. It is good quality with a ton of juice, and expertly extracted to emphasise cool blue fruits, rose petal florals, crushed stones and smoked earthy notes on the finish. Needs to open up, but this has plenty of poise, and will be brilliant within a few years. A yield of 44hl/ha. Axel Marchal consultant.
