There are probably around seven casks of the 2009 L’Extravagant de Doisy-Daene, although that may decrease a little after racking. An equal blend of Semillon and Sauvignon, it delivers a record 220gms residual sugar and yet still exudes astounding minerality and precision, with touches of clear honey, frangipane and cold wet stones. The palate is fullbodied with a mellifluous texture, perfect acidity to slice through that rich botrytized fruit, stunning balance, citrus peel, apricot, Clementine, lemon curd and a hint of ginger. With awesome length, leaving that tingling sensation akin to Szechuan pepper, this wine truly lives up to its name.

Elaboré avec un soin extrême avec 50 % de sauvignon et 50 % de sémillon, cette cuvée de Doisy-Daëne qui ne doit pas dépasser 1 200 bouteilles est à la fois ample et riche avec une matière phénoménale (12°5 et 235 g de sucre), mais sans aucune lourdeur, le tout dans un style impressionnant de grâce. De robe paille, le nez est très intense, d’un très grande complexité. En bouche, le vin est ample, gras et riche, velouté et plein, avec une grosse matière, une très grande richesse. 12°5 + 235 g de sucres résiduels.
