Punt Road is proudly owned and operated by the Napoleone family. Alongside winemaker Kate Goodman, they bring together a wealth of experience and passion that is reflected in each of their wines. Punt Road is home to a modern winemaking facility. Fruit is sourced from over 75 hectares of privately owned vineyard throughout the Yarra Valley.
Only small parcels of high quality, old vine, estate grown fruit are used for the Punt Road range. The resulting wines show concentration and complexity balanced by regional elegance. They will reward careful long term cellaring. Airlie Bank wines are made in a lightly oaked, fruit driven style. They are classically cool climate in nature and show strong varietal characteristics. Airlie Bank wines are best drunk young or cellared over the medium term.
Punt Road Location & History
The Punt Road winery is located in the heart of Victoria’s Yarra Valley. The winery is named after what is now a major thoroughfare in the centre of Melbourne. In the 1850s, Punt Road was a quiet dirt track running towards the Yarra River. It was surrounded by some of Victoria’s earliest vineyards and traversed the river by punt, which would ferry people and goods to the other side. A bridge now stands in place of the old punt.
