One of the most intense colours of the release, glossy, bright, and dense. Captivating and complex aromatics of dark, sweet fruits; mulberry highlights and spice from the oak. The palate is clean, rich, and velvety; with length and texture that is signature Vat 9. Impeccable balance and approachability yet built for a long life in the cellar.

Toni Paterson MW - Halliday Wine Companion
Beautifully fragrant, with high-toned, savoury oak and refined red fruit. There is a gorgeous, ethereal nature to the palate, along with elegant cranberry and cherry flavours and an alluring silkiness. The crescendo of flavour on the finish sets this wine apart. Incredibly long, cleansing and classy

Lifted and deeply scented aromas of blackberries, dark cherries, black pepper, violets, cedar, irons and earth. The palate is full-bodied with balanced acidity and firm yet finely structured tannins, giving flavors of plums, graphite, cured meat and dried herbs. Powerful yet composed, with depth and precision. Very good. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Gary Walsh - The Wine Front
Sourced from Short flat, NVC, 8 Acres, Old Hut, and Old Hillside. I’ve been battling a horrid cold for the past week and haven’t tasted any wine at all over the duration. I resorted to antibiotics a couple of days ago as it was sticking around too long. I tasted these with Chris Tyrrell yesterday, and it was sort of like listening to music being played next door, though I could still get the essential character of the wines. I’m much better today, though still maybe only running at 75% of what I’d consider normal, though my normal is probably different to your normal. Anyway, needs must. This is the 19th year I’ve tasted these wines on release. That probably counts for something, and some level of perspicacity. I’m doing my best! And I’m sure you’ll let me know how I’ve done. That Tyrrell’s run free tastings for members across the country is quite a thing. Not sure how many other wineries do that? Red fruit, cherry, perfume. Medium-bodied, milk chocolate and red fruits, subtle earthiness, fine-grained lightly dusty tannin, with a fleshy finish of excellent length. Acidity is present and neatly threaded through the wine. In short, it’s a classic Vat 9 and that signature is delivered with a flourish. Delightful.
