Black cherries are at the centre of this beautifully poised wine. It's a first-class wine at an incredibly low price.

An impressive estate wine that comes from a serious amount of detailed work in the vineyards across the Hills – for a start 12 separate clones that bring a range of complex characters into play before 18 months maturation in larger oak formats, 30% new. The red to crimson fruit profile is perfectly sweet and spicy, the latter a sprinkling of ground white pepper. Medium bodied with a decent presence of tannins in the mouthfeel, the wine is neatly balanced and structured. Most desirable, and terrific value in terms of its detail.

Beautifully styled and inviting, the bouquet shows dark plum, sweet cherry, thyme, game and roasted nut aromas with a lovely floral overtone. The succulent palate displays excellent weight and plump mouthfeel, beautifully structured by fine, grainy tannins, finishing persistent and sturdy.

Reductive and lightly peppery nose of fruit, dried herbs and Mediterranean spices. Pretty crunchy, with some tart Damson plum notes and a loosely wound finish with dark sour cherries at the end. Vegan.

The 2022 Shiraz is leafy and vital, with blackcurrant fruit, graphite and Earl Grey tea in profusion. The wine is a little reductive; however, this settles with time in the glass. On the palate, the wine is lightly handled, medium weight in body and layered with plenty of cranberry through the finish. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
