Mt Difficulty Roaring Meg Pinot Noir 2024

Fruit for this wine comes from Cromwell Basin vineyards, with an addition from the Bendigo vineyard lending a darker, more powerful edge to the 2024 vintage. The 2024 growing season was warm and dry under an El Niño pattern, with benign flowering conditions supporting strong yield potential, and wind through the following months keeping disease pressure low. Grapes were both machine and hand harvested, then destemmed, and fermented for around 25 days with peak temperatures of 28–30°C, plunged once daily pre-fermentation and twice during fermentation. After minimal post-fermentation extraction, the wine was pressed, settled for a week, then barrelled to French oak (15% first fill) for 10 months on lees, undergoing malolactic fermentation in early spring before racking and bottling. The wine will improve over three to five years of cellaring.
