This delivers fruit flavour with a smidgen of sophistication. It tastes of pears, apples and candied citrus but then it’s also textural, and soft, and wafted ever-so-gently with woodsmoke characters. It works nicely. It’s neither under nor overdone.

It pours pale and light, matching the aromas and flavours, as it turns out. Some sliced, barely ripe pears, cucamelon with a squirt of refreshing Meyer lemon juice. The palate is soft, as is the acidity. There’s a feathering of lees and just a tug of phenolics adding shape to the finish. A refreshing, enjoyable drink-now style.
