Soft and slurpy red of ease of drinking, bright, maraschino and dark cherry fruitiness, white pepper, sweet spice and sage leaf, salt bush and sea spray characters. It has a vibrancy and freshness, a youthful disposition that suits it so well. A fun thing to get stuck into with great DNA of the variety.

There is a little trumpet man on the label, of course. Wonder what the story is with the name?! Wild fermented and matured in used oak barrels. Soft, supple, slurpy and spot on for the variety in its array of cherry juice, pickled cherry, plump cherry and cherry pie characters. Quite a bit of toasty spice in the mix too, some cola, a lick of salted liquorice as well. Soft, lacy tannins lending some shape and chew too. A bright, somewhat salty and lemony finish – a little too much lemon sherbet zing in acid profile perfaps. It does pass the gulpability test, though. I’d go here.
