Tasting Notes

Deep ruby in the glass, the 2022 Château d’Issan 2022 opens with a refined bouquet of blackcurrant, blueberry and violet, edged by cedar, graphite and a hint of pencil-shavings. On the palate it is medium to full-bodied with a sweet core of dark berry fruit, guided by polished yet firm tannins and subtle saline minerality. The finish is long and structured, poised for cellaring.

Product Highlights

The 2022 Château d’Issan is a standout from one of Margaux’s historic estates, offering depth, purity and elegance in equal measure. Its gravel-rich vineyard soils deliver Cabernet Sauvignon-driven structure, while Merlot and small parcels of Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot bring finesse and complexity. This vintage was crafted with particular attention: each parcel vinified separately in new micro-tanks before ageing in roughly 50 % new oak barrels.

Critically acclaimed scores reflect its quality and ageing potential — expect blackcurrant and blueberry fruit, floral violet tones, fine graphite and a long, chalky finish. It’s built to evolve, with a core of ripe emotion but plenty of tension and precision. Ideal for cellaring for a decade or more, yet approachable enough to drink if decanted confidently. A worthy addition to a serious Bordeaux collection or a vocal benchmark for Margaux style.
