The 2021 Poesia is a blend of all the parcels this year because the quality was so uniform, harvested over three days, October 7–9. It has a touch more fruit concentration than the Barde-Haut, featuring dark berries, crushed stone and a touch of melted tar. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy black fruit, a slightly granular texture, gentle grip and hints of brown spices and white pepper toward the finish. A bright and beautiful wine with flowers, blackcurrants, violets and hints of citrus. Medium body and fine tannins. Racy and pretty. 70% merlot and 30% cabernet franc.
The 2021 Poesia is a firm, closed Saint-Émilion endowed with quite a bit of energy and sheer power. Dark fruit and brooding shades of gravel, spice, menthol and licorice give Poesia its distinctive personality. The tannins are a bit imposing at this stage. Élevage will be crucial here.
