2021 Joanin Bécot
Bramble fruit aromas and lovely subtle perfume to the red summer berries. Smooth and supple palate but the wine has such a vibrancy to it. It has a bit of a wild energy with salty earth, sour cherry, ripe strawberry and a touch of crushed stone and tobacco. You get the minerality and a real display of nuance and detail on the palate. This has character: it’s smooth but with satin-textured tannins giving the support and structure in the mouth with a slow build of flavour to a lifted, fresh finish. An excellent and impressive effort from Côtes de Castillon in 2021. No chapitalisation. 7% press wine. 3.5pH. Read more

The 2021 Joanin Bécot has a very appealing, pure black cherry and cassis bouquet that opens nicely in the glass. The palate still has a bit of gas, but I appreciate the balance and freshness, and the structure on the finish. This is promising.
A juicy red with plum, coffee and light tobacco character. Medium-bodied with medium, round tannins and a savory finish.

Winemakers Note
Joanin Bécot, a pleasure wine made by the Bécot family . Owners of Château Beau-Séjour Bécot, Premier Grand Cru Classé, Gérard Bécot and his daughter Juliette decided in 2001 to seek a new challenge. In search of a property located in the appellations around Saint-Emilion and offering great potential due to the quality of its wines and its terroirs, the family found Château Joanin in Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux. Immediately seduced by this vineyard, they bought it and added their name. It became Château Joanin Bécot. Today at the helm of the estate, Juliette Bécot is guided by the desire to preserve, vintage after vintage, all the flavors and the charm of the fruit, while relying on the notion of terroirs, really seductive, of this appellation which is sometimes misunderstood although very promising.
