Nicolas Greinacher - Vinous

The quality of the 2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Hommage à Jacques Perrin is impossible to ignore, almost cruising at the same high altitude as the 2020. Aged in foudre and made from the usual blend of 60% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache and 20% Syrah. The 2021 Hommage à Jacques Perrin displays fragrant violet, blackcurrant, red and black cherry, blueberry, thyme, lavender, licorice and mint aromas. Full-bodied, polished and enveloped in an intricate web of velvety tannins, it concludes with excellent persistence on the complex finish.

Very dense, but also vivid with great elderberry, lavender, licorice and allspice aromas. Impressive concentration and power for the challenging vintage. Magnificent follow through at the long structured finish. Best from 2026. From organically grown grapes.

Jane Anson - New Bordeaux

One of the original big name French wines on the Place de Bordeaux, now joined by many others but still leading the pack in terms of prestige and quality. Juicy, powerful, seductive, a ton of spice, underbrush, red cherry, bilberry, cumin, toasted oak, incense, powerful liqoruice and cocoa. So much complexity but also so much lightness of touch, just love this wine and its lyricism. Winemaker César Perrin effortlessly handles a vintage that had plenty of challenges. Winemakers Note

Affirming your uniqueness and standing up for your ideas really is a way of life. By defining new frontiers, as other great pioneers did, Jacques Perrin has earned his place in the history of great wines. To honor the memory and the heritage of this man who forged their skills and guided their philosophy, the fifth generation of Famille Perrin has created this highly personal and remarkable cuvee «Hommage à Jacques Perrin». Although « Hommage à Jacques Perrin » is an authentic Châteauneuf-du-Pape, it is nevertheless an interpretation, an individual vision, with full respect for the terroir from which its springs. At its origin, a remarkable terroir of very old vines tended as naturally as possible, according to the principles of biodynamics that were so dear to Jacques Perrin, to extract the purest and the truest expression. Its unique stylistic signature is also influenced by a veritable choice, that of the dominance of Mourvèdre in the blend. « Hommage à Jacques Perrin » is also notable for its refined, noble and elegant tannins and its perfect balance between freshness and concentration. With their great purity, each of its vintages mature slowly and evolve in complexity thanks to their remarkable ageing potential. Learn more about the estate : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2Je71BxDko The 2021 vintage Weather conditions "After several very hot vintages, 2021 was a cooler year, similar to the vintages we had in the 80s / 90s. It was also a winemaker vintage, human intervention and the care given to the vines was decisive for the quality of the vintage. Marked by climatic hazards, 2021 required constant efforts from our vineyard workers. Their vigilance and commitment borne fruit and offers a vintage full of promise. The year had started in good conditions when the vineyard was hit by frost on the night of April 7th to 8th, with temperatures as low as -7 ° C. The spring was wet, followed by a dry summer, but without any heatwaves or excessive temperatures. The rainfalls were regular but not abundant, allowing to maintain a good sanitary state. The harvest began on August 30th. At the end of the vinification, the wines are very fresh, with beautiful alcohol / acidity balance which indicates a promising vintage. Thanks to the efforts of our teams and their meticulous work, yields are greater than one might expect, with a limited loss of 20% compared to previous years." Charles Perrin Tasting notes The 2021 vintage of Hommage à Jacques Perrin offers a gorgeous noise with red fruits, figs, black pepper, and spices. The mouth is round and lush with a lot of flesh and intensity, backed by a great graphite spine.
