The Domaine de Chevalier located in Léognan, the Capital town of the Graves Region has a long history. It appears on the famous map of Pierre de Belleyme in 1783. In 1983 the estate was purchased by the Bernard Family, N° 1 in France on the spirits market and a major negociant of premium Bordeaux wines. It has been run ever since by Olivier Bernard who, together with his team, gradually introduced a winemaking philosophy revolving around balance. This guides every step of viticulture and winemaking, as does respecting the purity of the fruit and gentle extraction in keeping with the terroir and vintage character...He perpetuates the constant drive for perfection which have been the hallmark of this outstanding wine. The 60-hectare vineyard is in conversion to Organic Farming. The 2021 vintage, two different periods in this vintage for a great success This 2021 vintage at Domaine de Chevalier will go down in history for two climatically opposed reasons: on the one hand,  a chaotic climatic and viticultural season, severe frosts and heavy rains favoring mildew; on the other hand, an extraordinary end to the season, for the maturity and the harvest, under the great anticyclone, allowing two great successes, in White as in Red. Pure, typical and fresh nose of ripe Cabernet Sauvignon in gravelly soil where wild fruits, plants and spices mingle: blackcurrant, blackberry, blueberry, sour cherry, peppermint, cedar, heather On the palate: great unctuous and fresh structure, dense with silky, fine and elegant tannins. The Merlot brings a delicate and fruity flesh. The Cabernet Franc ensures refinement and elegance and the Petit Verdot releases its fruity and spicy energy. A classy finish where the flavors of graphite and liquorice appear. The 80% of Cabernet Sauvignon are in balance in this blend and ensure a great wine for laying down, full of freshness.
