Patrick Maroteaux, François-Xavier’s father, considered the wines he produced were made for pleasure. The drinkability was key to him. Today, François-Xavier Maroteaux (owner) and Jean-Dominique Videau (Director and Winemaker)  share this same vision and wish the wines they produce to keep the specific style that comes from this superb terroir of Saint-Julien. Independently of the attachment that we can bear to this property and the people who embody it, we are convinced that the quality of the wines of Branaire Ducru is unbeatable at this price level. The wines are very accessible when young and have a great potential for ageing. 2021 is no exception to this rule. The purity of the fruit is not impaired by any hint of under-ripeness and offers a beautiful classical style. Good structure on the palate, offering lovely Cabernets that have matured very gradually in this classic vintage with a more Atlantic feel. A nice acidity underpins the harmonious finish.
