Château Montlandrie is a 12 hectare vineyard established at the end of the 19th century by an italian family. Denis Durantou, passionate about the Right Bank where he owns many estates - L'Eglise Clinet, La Chenade, Saintayme in particular - bought Montlandrie in 2009. It was, he explained, the only terroir where he really wanted to vinify grapes in Bordeaux after gravels and Pomerol clays. Because we are there in the clay-limestone soils that dominate the Dordogne, in the Castillon-Côtes-de-Bordeaux appellation, with a majority of Merlot and a planting density of six thousand feet per hectare for rich grapes and complex. In this area as in others, Denis Durantou works with passion and rigot, which has brought him into the closed circle of influential men of the Right Bank.
