Luce - the magnificence of Tuscany A new chapter in the history of the great Tuscan wines was written when Vittorio Frescobaldi met Robert Mondavi in the early 90s. Their encounter gave rise to an ambitious project called Tenuta Luce. The name evokes the sunlight in Montalcino, which is source of life and nourishment. It also marks the passage of the seasons and sets the pace for any agricultural activity. In this way, it was only natural that the sun became the emblem of the estate. Located in Montalcino, Tenute Luce delivers a unique experience in a place surrounded by nature. Only 88ha of the 249ha of land, is planted with vines. The bright light that comes from the vineyard's specific exposure, the cool breeze and the diversity of soils and altitudes make Luce a place of choice, where the balance of all of these elements is taken care of. Since the very beginning of this project, respect has been at the heart of every action: respect of the earth, of the beauty of nature and of the people who are working daily at Luce. Lamberto Frescobaldi took over from his father in 2005 and remained faithful to these values. In 2016, he launched the construction of a new winery that is perfectly integrated in Montalcino's landscape. Luce is the iconic wine of the estate. It is a marvelous blend of Sangiovese and Merlot. The 2020 vintage Winter was dry and mild. Spring was hot with some rainy episodes in May that created the perfect conditions for flowering to proceed. The rains in June allowed the vines to prepare for the hot and dry Summer. In 2020, the grapes reached perfect maturity under optimal conditions. Tasting notes Intense ruby red in color, Luce 2020 stands out on the nose for its complexity and elegance,characterized by ripe black fruits, particularly blackberry and mulberry, which are joined byhints of cocoa and sweet spices. On the palate it is harmonious, lively, with excellentstructure, balanced by vibrant acidity and soft, silky tanninsthat give an elegant finish withgreat persistence.
