Winemakers Notes
Château Le Boscq in Saint-Estèphe, has been classified ‘Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel’, in the 2020 Cru Bourgeois Classification for Médoc wines. Located on a premium terroir bordering the Gironde estuary, Château Le Boscq is a rare gem. Vignoble Dourthe since 1995, the wine is a characterful Saint-Estèphe, which with great elegance allies the power of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot with the finesse of Merlot, which is unusual for the appellation. These age-worthy wines are delicate and well-balanced. Tasting note - 2020 vintage: « Incredibly deep, almost black in appearance. The distinguished, intense and complex nose reveals the exceptional character of Le Boscq fully exposed along the estuary. Defined by its distinctive character of precious woods and cedar, the 2020 vintage firmly situates Le Boscq in a spicy aromatic dimension, underscored by complex, dark fruit notes. The wine is smooth on the palate, full and poised, and culminates in a long, lingering finish. A great Le Boscq wine! » (March 2021) Frédéric Bonnaffous, Vignobles Dourthe Director Blend 2020 : 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc , 1% Petit Verdot To validate and formalise our environmentally-conscious practice of sustainable viticulture, we set our sights on achieving Terra Vitis certification for all our Vignobles Dourthe, including Château Le Boscq, the scheme we believe to be the most true to our values.
