Toolangi Estate is one of the Yarra Valley's best. The estate has recently undergone a change in ownership it was purcahse by Helmut Konecsny, the owner of Rochford Wines. Konescy has made quite a few changes to things already, this is his first vintage release and the impact of these is already being seen in their wines.
Their Paul's Lane Pinot Noir is a very high quality wine. Made from fruit from low yielding vines, the resulting wine is highly concentrated and has great complexity. With 80 % destemmed and 20% whole bunch, the wine was naturally fermented in open-top wooden fermenters. In total, the wine spent 23 days on skins before being pressed to French oak and was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
All of the latest releases are looking mighty fine. The future is looking very bright for Toolangi.
