Neal Martin - Vinous
The 2017 Grand Mayne has an attractive bouquet with red cherries, wild strawberry and blackcurrant, hints of humidor and clove emerging with time. There is clearly impressive intensity here in the context of the growing season. The palate is well balanced with fine tannins. There is superb freshness and cohesion with supple, lithe red berry fruit mixed with white pepper and bay leaf on the finish. This is an excellent wine from Jean-Antoine Nony and his team.

Deep dark ruby garnet, purple reflections, delicate edge brightening, fine precious wood savouriness, delicate vanilla and cherries, attractive bouquet. Medium body, elegant, black cherries, integrated, ripe tannins, mineral, chocolatey finish, has certain ageing potential.

The 2017 Grand Mayne has quite a powerful, voluminous bouquet with red berry fruit, smoke and truffle aromas, not quite delivering the same level of delineation as the previous vintage but still nicely focused. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannin, clean and precise with a fine bead of acidity. It is a lighter style of Grand Mayne compared to the wines of ten years ago, more nimble on its feet. The finish is lively, uncomplicated and quite mineral-driven, completing what is a fine follow-up to the 2016, though this will drink earlier.

This is a sweet, soft, polished, medium-bodied wine. Forward with bright cherries and black raspberries, licorice and just a hint of espresso, the tannins are soft and the finish has a bright, plummy appeal.

Nez profond sur les fruits mûrs. La bouche est pleine et fraîche, centrée et vineuse, avec une belle longueur. Très jolie réussite.
Loads of red and black fruits, hints of sandalwood, incense and dried flowers emerge from the 2017 Château Grand Mayne. Medium to full-bodied, ripe, and rounded on the palate, I love its tannin quality. With rock solid mid-palate depth and plenty of length, it should end up being an outstanding wine.

The 2017 Grand Mayne offers good depth and persistence, but it also feels very compact and dominated by oak and torrefaction notes, alongside dried herbs and menthol. The 2017 is attractive, but it was far more expressive from barrel; let's see where it goes.
Wine Spectator
Well-focused, with bright raspberry, plum and red licorice notes racing along, set against a backdrop of brambly structure.
