Juicy and fruity, this wine is hiding its richness at this stage. But it will be a concentrated wine boasting great fruitiness. Drink from 2024.

Expressive without out much effort, you can easily find the flowers, cherries and wet earth notes. Soft, glossy and fresh, there is sweetness to the fruit, silk on the tannins and a generous blast of cocoa dusted red fruits in the finish.
A dense and flavorful red already with dark-berry, seaweed and wet-earth undertones. Full body and round and chewy tannins. Green olives on the finish. Serious for the vintage. Points: 94-95

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Gazin has a beautifully fragrant nose of potpourri, chocolate-covered cherries and spiced mulberries with a core of warm plums and cherry cordial plus a waft of wild blueberries. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a firm frame of ripe, rounded tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and earthy. Drinking Window : 2021 - 2034. 93+

The 2017 Gazin has a very classic Pomerol bouquet with black brambly fruit infused with black truffle and subtle raspberry confit notes. Then, as it opens, there are loamy aromas that lend more complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin and a fine bead of acidity. There is a slightly powdery texture, feeling quite saline. White pepper and fennel notes become more conspicuous towards the finish. Just a classic Gazin from proprietor Nicolas de Bailliencourt and his team.
Bright cherries, raspberries, and floral notes all round out the 2017 Château Lafleur-Gazin, a plump, sexy, seductive Pomerol that has beautiful purity and elegance. Made from 100% Merlot on well-drained gravel, clay, and sandy soils, it has ripe tannin, juicy acidity, and again, terrific purity of fruit. This estate, which falls under the Moueix umbrella, has certainly produced a successful Pomerol.

Powerful and lush, the 2017 Gazin is super-expressive and inviting. Leather, spice, cedar menthol and dried herbs give the 2017 a very pretty, earthy character that works quite well. The 2017 builds nicely in the glass, showing terrific persistence and plenty of character. It will be even better once the tannins soften a touch. Tasted three times.
