A very refined nose with redcurrants, red flowers and a complex mix of light, fresh earth and tobacco leaf. The palate delivers a bright, fresh impression with fine, lively tannins casting a very vibrant and succulent, red-fruit finish. A blend of 53% merlot, 41% cabernet sauvignon, 5% cabernet franc and 1% carmenere. Second wine of Chateau Brane-Cantenac.

A cool and fruity red with red currant and crushed stone character. Hints of lemon zest and bright acidity Medium body, firm and silky. Pretty second wine of Brane. Points: 90-91

The 2017 Baron de Brane is a pretty wine to drink now and over the next few years. Dark cherry, mocha, spice and new leather are all nicely pushed forward. There is a good bit of immediacy to the 2017, if not a ton of depth or persistence.

The 2017 Baron de Brane is an attractive wine, but it is also a bit modest in structure and diluted in character. It will be interesting to see if the Baron fleshes out during its aging. Today, the 2017 is decidedly light in body, but there is good lift to the red berry fruit. Points: 86-88

The 2017 Baron de Brane has a tightly wound, very stony and slightly earthy bouquet, perhaps just a little dustiness to contend with. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannin, just a little green around the edges with a generous pinch of black pepper on the finish. This will be an early drinking second label. Points: 84-86
