Winemakers Note

Acaibo, Californian by nature, Bordeaux by culture Acaibo is the result of Gonzague and Claire Lurton's union, owners of Château Durfot-Vivens, 2 nd Grand Cru Classé in Margaux, Château Ferrière, 3 rd Grand Cru Classé in Margaux and Château Haut-Bages Libéral, 5 th Grand Cru Classé in Pauillac. Longing to share a new adventure, they fell in love with a 24-acres property, in the heart of California, in 2012. The result of this epic journey was Acaibo, that takes its name from the native people of Sonoma and means "Three Fishes". Acaibo's vineyard is located in Chalk-Hill, Sonoma County. It is surrounded by Californian mountains and volcanic landscapes. In the vineyard, Claire and Gonzague remain true to their values and use organic cultural practices. Acaibo is a mix of Franco-American know-how and tradition. The wine is as refined as it is balanced between freshness and fullness in the mouth. It is much closer to traditional Bordeaux wines than to typical Californian wines. Click here to see a video of the winery: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gH9tVfKa0cU The 2017 vintage 2017 was marked by the Californian wildfires. Fortunately, the harvest at Acaibo ended the day before the fires began. "Acaibo 2017 is characterized by its freshness, its balance and its aromatic palette of dark berries and spices. A vintage both modern and bright." Nicolas Vonderheyden, Technical Director.
