A wine with a vertical palate for the vintage. Deep and rich with polished tannins, beautiful fruit. Layered and very long. Blueberries, hazelnut, cedar and a mineral, creamy character. Fabulous for the vintage.

With great depth of fruit, this plush, ripe wine also has dense tannins for aging, layers of acidity and a tight structure. However, it's the fruit that makes this wine, with its waves of black currants and aromatic blueberries. The wood just touches the flavors to promise serious aging. Drink from 2022.

94–96. Barrel sample. This is a beautifully crafted wine with red fruits, a touch of black currant, great acidity and dense structure. A blend of half-and-half Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, it shows both weight and a great lift.

Offers a lovely velvety feel, with plum sauce, red currant paste and lilac notes melded together. Subtle but persistent toast accents everything, with an inlaid iron hint hanging in the background. Shows range, weight and length, with all the elements draping nicely on the finish. Approachable now, exhibiting good mouthfeel, but this could benefit from time in the cellar. Best from 2017 through 2025. 7,500 cases made.

Magnificent black-red, wonderful concentration with velvety density of texture, superbly rich yet elegant, exotic yet constrained, great wine. 18.5/20

Winemakers Note

Château Palmer, 10 Years On release Since 2010, Château Palmer has been carefully keeping a part of its production in its historic cellar. 10 Years On marks a new milestone in the wine industry's calendar: the release of a vintage ready to be revealed. For Château Palmer, whose wines reveal themselves over time, ten years marks an age of reason, the crossing of a first level of maturity. Aged in the cellar, the wine matures in the shade and silence, revealing its identity, its character, the spectrum of its aromatic nuances with serenity. After ten years of ageing in the bottle, in the light of tasting, it can finally reveal itself. Or wait patiently for another peak. After ten years of cellaring and silent evolution at the estate, Château Palmer 2012 emerges from its reserve: a harmonious and bewitching wine, which seduces instantly. 2012, a pleasure wine made for ageing After ten years of asceticism in the cellar, Château Palmer 2012 immediately returns to its voluble nature, its aromatic depth, its voluptuous notes of blueberry, liquorice and incense. The nose reveals this surprising approachability, a generosity without ostentation. On the palate, it is a caress between pulp and silk. A bewitching, unctuous and caressing vintage, which seduces instantly, almost without wanting to. On the one hand, the Merlots are solar and exuberant; on the other, the Cabernets are fine and as straight as they are precise. Two entities that harmonise to compose an expressive wine that is perfectly anchored in its terroir. Less atypical than the 2011 vintage, Château Palmer 2012 has kept the freshness and vigour of its first expression, with a powerful Merlot that holds its own without overwhelming the Cabernet's grain.
