Winemakers Notes
Roberto Voerzio is one of the most iconic winemakers in the Piedmont region of Italy. He has been producing wines of great power and exceptional finesse since 1986. He began with 2 hectares planted on the slopes of La Morra. Today his vineyard is a constellation of 20 hectares of plots located among the greatest terroirs of the appellation.
In order to adorn his wines, Roberto Voerzio works in the vineyard with extreme precision and limits any intervention during vinification. The vines, planted at a high density, benefit from a very demanding tailor-made viticulture. To ensure that each vine produces berries with an exceptional sugar concentration, Roberto Voerzio carries out double green harvests that drastically limit their yield and thus allow them to reach optimal maturity. In the cellar, the grapes undergo their fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The wines then age in barrels and are neither fined nor filtered.
Roberto Vierzo's Barolos are among the most prestigious wines in the region. Unique and rare, they are internationally recognized and praised by the press. The 2015 vintage of "Roberto Voerzio La Serra" received the maximum score of 100 points by James Suckling.
Thanks to his talent for magnifying the Nebbiolo, the star grape variety of Barolo, Roberto Voerzio has become a legend of the appellation in a few decades.
