From the first sip, we are transported to the great vintages of Bordeaux, and also what makes Figeac so special; this is St-Émilion in a big year, and yet there is a sense of restraint and elegance alongside the clearly ripe phenolics and multi-layered, textured tannic structure. I get some chewiness through the mid-palate, clearly due to a high tannic count. This is just a stunning wine of sheer elegance but with unquestionable power. Hold on to it though - it's going to need time. A classic one-third of each grape in the blend. Read more

Intense aromas of wet earth, leaves, sweet berries and cinnamon follow through to a full body, velvety and dense tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Opulent style. Just opening now, but this shows lots of stuffing, even if it does tighten down on the palate. Integrated and fine. Drink or hold.

Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Figeac bursts from the glass with gregarious scents of baked blueberries, black cherry compote and chocolate box with hints of camphor, pencil lead and iron ore. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has beautifully ripe, velvety tannins and bold freshness supporting the generous fruit, finishing long and layered.

This Cabernet Sauvignon dominated wine always stands out as a powerhouse of impressive tannins. In 2010, it is complex with a dense structure, tight mineral texture and dense wood.Underneath, the ripe black fruit bring the promise for the long-term future. Give this wine at least 10 years.

Jeannie Cho Lee MW - Asian Palate

Out of the 8 different vintages of Figeac tasted, this is by far the most dense and concentrated but not lacking in finesse. Flavour profile of dark berries and black tea leaves has wonderful precision, freshness and depth. Extremely long length. A strctured, intense Figeac to leave in your cellar and forget about for a few decades.

James Molesworth - Wine Spectator

This is very tight, showing a prominent roasted apple wood and bittersweet cocoa frame more today, though the core of dense currant paste, blackberry pâte de fruit and plum sauce waits in reserve. Gorgeous singed spice, anise and toasted fig bread notes flitter through the finish, though this needs some time in the cellar to resolve itself fully. A very distinctive, structured expression of St.-Emilion. Best from 2016 through 2035. –JM

Neal Martin - Vinous

The 2010 Figeac has a luscious and rather ravishing bouquet with black cherries, mulberry and soy aromas, driven by the Merlot more than the Cabernet components. It feels pure and voluptuous, atypical for a Figeac. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe succulent tannins, plenty of tarry black fruit, a fine bead of acidity and more expressive Cabernet towards the cedar and mineral-tinged finish. Very fine, but it needs a couple more years. Tasted at the BI Wines & Spirits 10-Year On tasting. Drink 2024-2050. 95+ points
