Delicate and elegant wine, with smoky fruit, ripe but freshened with a tight layer of acidity. It has delicious black currant juice flavors, but the texture remains light and the tannins soft.

Tight and solid, with currant, raspberry and light tobacco. Full-bodied, chewy and fruity. Closed and slightly hollow. Best after 2014.

The light, fresh, sensual, round 2006 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux exhibits moderate levels of dark cherry and red currant fruit accompanied by background herb and spice characteristics. Drink it over the next 5-7 years.

Tannic, very good – not great – vintage. Just starting to open. Looks if anything a little less blue than the 2004 and 2000! Ripe, sweet nose. Hint of pepper and spearmint. Dry tannins on the finish. Could be drunk with food. Still a little callow.  Score: 16.5+/20

Looks quite evolved. A green note on the nose. Some subtlety but an awful lot of acid and tannin. No suggestion of fighting the vintage chacter here! A second bottle seemed a bit richer. Score: 16/NaN

40% M, 5% PV and CF and the rest CS. This second wine represents 55% of the crop. All the great Cabernet went into the grand vin, we were told. Mid to light crimson. Highly aromatic. Very lifted and fragrant. Ralatively light and even a bit skinny. Nervy and a little bit green even. Only medium weight. Light dry sandy tannins. Pretty fast fade on the finish. Seems to me a relatively weak Pavillon Rouge. Score: 16.5/NaN
