Product Highlights

Let's cut to the chase here. If these same gnarly 40-year-old vines were planted just a few hundred metres over the borderline, inside the rarefied Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, we'd all be looking at a very different price tag.

Such is the literal line in the sand drawn by the French wine authorities. Et Voilà!

On one side, you pay a premium for the name on the label. On the other, you get official, delicious Côtes du Rhône. The exact same Vaucluse sandy, stony soils, the same drenching sunlight, and the exact same winemaking pedigree. Put simply, you're bypassing the official appellation tax entirely.

And this isn't just any old Rhône red. Guillaume Gonnet 'La Julia' Côtes du Rhône 2023 is a global exclusive to The Wine Collective.

It's the ultimate winemaking collusion. French terroir meets Australian swagger. Guillaume Gonnet is a third-generation Southern Rhône winemaker, but his genius muse is his Aussie winemaker wife, Kelly.

Together, they've stripped away any lingering stuffy, old-world pretence and injected big, generous, fruit-forward Australian crowd-pleasing character into a classic French frame. The perfect balance of old-world sensibility and new-world drinkability.

The credentials are impeccable. Pure Grenache fruit intensity, beautifully supported by Shiraz power, then the light touch of fermentation in concrete tanks and maturation in seasoned oak.

The result? Lashings of dark fruit, a sprinkle of cracked pepper, hints of violets and that famed old-world Gallic savouriness. All wrapped up in big-hearted deliciousness.

Serious red, superb Rhône!
