Tasting Notes

Cherry and blackberry lead the nose, with violet perfume and a touch of vanilla. The palate is generous and silky, carrying the fruit through a savoury thread from the whole bunches. Fine tannins give it shape without interrupting that smooth flow, building towards a long, balanced finish. There is enough fruit to make it immediately inviting, with the savoury detail adding interest as it opens in the glass.

Product Highlights

Most wine lovers know Yarra Yering. Warramate, right next door, deserves a place on the radar too. The estates share ownership and a vineyard team, with Sarah Crowe making the wines at both addresses. For Pinot lovers who appreciate that pedigree, Warramate’s 2025 release is a particularly tempting introduction.

There is plenty of substance behind the name. Selected blocks provide the fruit, while small-batch fermentation and the use of whole bunches bring savoury detail to its generous cherry and blackberry flavours. Gentle handling carries through to a silky palate, with fine tannins giving the fruit shape and keeping the finish going. It is a Pinot with enough flavour to make an immediate impression and enough detail to reward another glass.

Philip Rich awarded it 96 points for Halliday Wine Companion, and a gold medal at the 2026 Yarra Valley Wine Show adds another reason to pay attention. Those are serious credentials for a wine with such an approachable feel.

This is an appealing choice for drinkers drawn to fragrant, silky Pinot with a savoury edge. It has the fruit and texture for enjoyment now, with scope for a few years in the cellar. A smart way into one of the Yarra Valley’s best-connected addresses.
